More Reasons!

Reason #7: Jess likes to swear at the stir fry while it cooks in the Wok!

Reason #8: Jess makes Chips dance along with the Christmas Carols that are on television commercials!

End of Semester = Bittersweet!

YAY for classes being over and homework being out of the way! YUCK for having to write two papers in like one night and taking lots of writing tests next week! :(

Not much else to say....It's WAY too cold right now! I can't wait for it to warm up to like 20 degrees! LOL!

Reason #9: For moments when we say lines like: We could spit on Canada! and There's something about a classy thief!!

Xmas Decorating Phase 1 Complete

Jessica and I completed Phase 1 of the Christmas Decorating last night. We were really impressed that it only took us about an hour to put up the trees, garland, and lights and then we spent another hour and half taking pictures and goofing off. These are the results:

We still have to get ornaments to decorate the trees and some stockings to hang over the fire place and maybe two tree skirts and the outdoor lights but we had a fun! You can also view the album here

Oh I believe we came across another (the rest is read in a booming voice) Reason to Own a Video Camera:

Reason #6: As Jessica tries to move the baby tree she picks it up by the top and it falls into three pieces. LOL.

2, 4, 6, 8 Who do we appreciate

So Jess and I enjoy playing cribbage. We are currently playing and she's kicking my butt. And I'm being forced to blog this right now, she practically is typing this for me :) But I had a 2, 4, 6, in my hand and I wished out loud that you can count evenly for a straight...like 2, 4, 6, 8 who do we appreciate! And that is now the theme of our game apparently.

Oh Tiffanys!! :)

Nicole and I are dreaming of a Tiffany tree for Christmas! We decided that our super amazing apartment with high ceilings and woodsy fireplace is in need a large Christmas tree. A Christmas tree decorated with twinkling, white lights, white iridescent garland and ornaments of silver, white, clear, and of course Tiffany Blue! :) We will decorate after the Thanksgiving and I'm sure MANY pictures will follow!

Our Tiffany tree dreams segues into a recent quote by my co-blogger: "I wonder if Cinderella's glass slippers came from Tiffanys?!"

This quote coming right after I suggested a way to clean our fireplace and Nicole saying, "I don't wanna be all sooty!"

Digressing on.....

Reasons we need a video camera continue on...

Reason #4: Jess trying to set up the Christmas tree and showing that she's as tall as it is pretty comical!

Reason #5: We'd prolly be able to see just where we put that missing disc of Gilmore Girls!

PS: Griz beat the Cats today! 33-19!! BOO YAH!!! =)

Reasons we need a Video Camera

So we've mentioned at least 3 times this week that we need a video camera. Between the cat being goofy, Jessica and I being random, and all the crazy stuff that happens here, we think a watching it all again would be even more entertaining. So here is a list of reasons we need a Video Camera:

Reason #1: Jessica trying to throw a ball at our high ceiling in the living room but not hit the beam that runs through the middle, very entertaining.

Reason #2: Wii: The WiInjuries could be documented, we could do instant replays*, and we say some really random stuff while we play.

Reason #3: We both really want to know what the cat does while we are gone, setting up a hidden camera could bring some interesting things to light.

So as we do/say/see things that we'd like to record...we're going to post it as another reason to buy a video camera. Maybe if we get to 100 we'll actually be able to get one.

*Edit: Where it says replays originally said replies...oops! And of course I had to go back and correct because if there is one thing I learned today, it's that good grammar is sexy!

My On-Again, Off-Again Relationship...back to being on-again

It is always difficult to make time to go to the gym and with Turkey Day and Xmas coming up, it only makes it harder to get back into my on again off again relationship with the gym. But Hawaii is in 11 Weeks which means I have to get my butt in gear to be looking awesome for my new swimsuit in Hawaii**! So anyways I changed things up today a bit. I usually try to hit the gym before work (ha yea right I don't get out of bed at 6AM like I sometimes plan to!) or right after work. So today I ended up working late, nothing new there. Usually when I work late I just cut the gym out of my schedule. And eat some more oreos while sitting in my class. But today I went to the gym after my class ends at 8PM. And this must be the time to go because there were several hot boys and men (I classify them differently, some of them barely looked old enough to drive, but there were still plenty of men left after canceling out the boys). So this may be the new prime time to hit the gym, around 8pm. Maybe that will help out with the motivation a bit.

**Note: There will be many mentions of the trip to Hawaii for the next two months...so either deal with it or don't read my posts.....I'm too excited not to blog about it!! Yay Hawaii

Findings in Montana Gas Station

You know its a classy place when...

**Edit: I couldn't resist posting this after both Jess and I had a huge laugh at it. It caught me off guard, I went into a gas station to use the restroom and was surprised to find a spacious, clean, nice smelling restroom to use. As I'm drying off my hands and getting ready to leave I notice the dispenser and as I see the flavors listed, I realize its not feminine products like I assumed when I walked it. So does the fact that you can get multiple flavors make it classier?

In Jessica's car listening to White Wedding by Billy Idol...I think we could have survived the 80s quite nicely.

Olympics

As I was flipping through the channels this evening, I noticed that NBC once again has the Olympic rings under their TV emblem and it brought a little feeling of excitement and pride tingling into the pit of my stomach. I'm usually a bigger fan of the summer Olympics but I do enjoy the winter Olympics as well. And the excitement of the Olympics is even bigger this year with them being in Vancouver, so much closer to home than Beijing for the summer Olympics. The first time I can remember watching the Olympics was the '92 summer games in Barcelona. I remember my mom let me watch them with her in her bedroom so that we could watch without my brother annoying us to death. We sat on her bed and watched gymnastics which was her (and soon became my) favorite sport. I must have been about 7 years old. Shannon Miller became my idol (and still is) and I asked my mom to sign me up for gymnastics that night. I have dutifully watched the Olympic games ever since with a sense of pride and excitement that seems to make me feel as if I am part of something bigger. As if these athletes represent my personal hopes and dreams along with their own. I remember the Magnificent Seven team that brought home Team Gold in Atlanta and that my gymnastics coach got to go watch these. I remember the disappointment at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. And the awesome Hamm brothers in Athens. So although I am partial to the summer games, I go into these winter games in Vancouver with a sense of hope. There are many things that have changed in my life and I feel a sense of renewal and feel as if positive changes are coming. I may just be swayed with the excitement of the games but that's what the Olympics is all about.

We could spit on canada!

Halloween was fabulous, hanging with my alaska peeps. My toes almost froze off waiting to get inside to the loon. Luckily all 10 of my toes were spared from frostbite and after a couple of drinks and some dancing they warmed up nicely.

So Fish and I had a difficult time adjusting to our regular boring schedules after our awesome trips. And Fish rented the most awesome game ever, Sonic & Mario at the Winter Olympic games, Thursday and Friday evening has been super playing figure skating, which is super awesome on the Wii. We also made enough hamburger soup to feed an army, so we'll be eating soup for ages!

While we were playing our Wii, the discussion came up of how awesome it is that the olympics are practically a hop, skip, and a jump away. But since neither of us has passports it would be impossible to go. But we decided we could get really close to the canadian border near vancouver and "We could spit on Canada" ha! So the quote went on the board!

Happenings in the last week

Salsa and I kinda let this fall behind...

Immediately creating Fish-Chips-Salsa, we both jet-setted off to exotic locales! Ok, mine was MORE exotic than Salsa's (I'm sure she'll post on her Fairbanks Adventure)! But I hit Fabulous LAS VEGAS! On Halloween weekend no less...saw LOTS of CRAZY S-T-U-F-F! LOL! :) All expenses paid...courtesy of the parents, Dad & Karen, AKA: The Vegas Whores, as Kristin and I dubbed them! We eventually alerted them of this title and a family friend that was with us, Laura, decided that Kristin and I were Mini-Whores! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention there were 17 of us in our group! You could say, we're all about the more the merrier!

FRIDAY
10:oo pm: Arrive in Las Vegas! Aunt Joanie pole dances on one of the hand rails in the tram on the way to baggage claim! LOL!

11:oo pm: Arrive at the Tropicana and get our room with a view! Can see the Excalibur, the Luxor and Mandalay Bay.

11:30 pm: Kristin, myself and cousin Kevin hit THE Roller Coaster at New York, New York! Totally worth the $14! Screamed my lungs out! At one point in time Kristin lost her breath from screaming! Lol!

12:15 pm: KK and I set off with our Yard Cup in hand, full of Strawberry Dacquiri from Coyote Ugly, on our quest to find out how much the shark reef cost at Mandalay Bay! Get to the tram that would take us directly to Mandalay Bay...Yeah...it was closed, so we trekked it!

1:00 am: Reach our destination...$17 to go through the shark reef. Head back to the Trop.

2:15 am: All the parents STILL gambling at the machines and Black Jack Tables

3:30 am: Go back to the our Paradise Tower room to sleep.

SATURDAY!
11:00 am: Get up, shower and meet all the ladies downstairs for a shopping trip to the HUGE Outlet Mall off of I-15! Coach...Dolce...Fossil...Oh my!

3:30 pm: Head to Town Square Mall to a Tuscan Grille that Aunt Kelly knows of called, Brio! Sit on the outdoor patio with our fire pit watching the crowd of Halloweeners partaking in the festivities. Of course we indulged in a few martinis.

7:30 pm: $12o later we receive our tab at Brio...I guess drinkin $9 martinis will do it to ya! LOL!

8:10 pm: Make it to the car, only to get stuck in TERRIBLE traffic! Learned that Karen is not a fan of traffic in parking lots! And about her rules! If you're talking on your phone, talking to your kid, listening to gangster music...basically the punch line is, she's not letting you in!

8:45 pm: Arrive back at the Trop to go change for dinner at the Excalibur! Head to the bar to have a filler drink and wait for everyone else! Receive gambling money from the parents! :)

9:00 pm: Dinner at the Excalibur! AMAZING! VERY pricey, but AMAZING just the same!

10:00 pm: KK and I played Craps with Uncle Tom for about 40 minutes! Each of us got to roll and win some money...although we were both down about $40 when we walked away from the table! But still fun!

11:00 pm: Playing slots! Lots of slots! KK gets a big bonus and wins $60...HOEBAG! Lol

12:30 am: Go to room to relax with our snacks...Cheetos and Soda! Get ready for bed.

SUNDAY
6:45 am: WAKE UP CALL...didn't even sound like a phone! WEIRDEST noise I've EVER heard!

7:30 am: Actually get up and start getting ready...mind you there are two girls that have to shower!

8:05 am: Freak Step-Mom Karen out by texting her a reply back that says we just woke up and does she think we have time to shower and get ready?

8:06 am: Text her and tell her we're kidding, so she doesn't get mad!

8:30 am: Meet everyone downstairs ON TIME to go to breakfast at Denny's!

9:00 am: Get seated at Denny's. Receive a Waitertress named Sal...not sure if it's man or woman.

9:24 am: Finish eating and receive bill. Find out that our Waitertress is actually a Waiter! LOL

10:30 am: Arrive at the Las Vegas Speedway

11:00 am: Get the piss scared out of me by my first drag race! My hair and teeth were literally vibrating! LOL!

6:26 pm: Reach the car and begin the traffic jam from HELL!

7:45 pm: Reach the Trop to change and get on the Monorail to head to TI!

8:30 pm: Sirens of TI show!

9:00 pm: Mirage Volcano!

9:30 pm: Bellagio Fountains! MY FAVE!

9:45 pm: Walked the Strip and checked out all the cool shops! M&M World

1:00 am: I head up to the room because I'm tired and wanna rest!

1:45 am: KK rolls in...I ask her the inevitable did you win anything? Um...maybe just $50...UGH!

MONDAY
10:00 am: Check out and meet downstairs for breakfast at the Excalibur!

11:15 am: Aunt Joanie hits 5 out of 5 numbers on Keno and wins $800! JEALOUS!

12:00 pm: Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay! AMAZING!

2:30 pm: The start of the Airport run!

8:15 pm: Back in Montana!

Hundreds of pics were taken with many laughs! See Facebook at a later date for a pics!

Ciao!

Fish says

GENIUS!!

So once upon a time, two girls were in the kitchen making cookies and debating about their shenanigans since moving into the apts at Union Square! And then one ventured the idea of blogging!

The original blog idea started one night whilst sitting at Finnegan’s, enjoying THE BEST hash browns EVER! SERIOUSLY BEST hash browns EVER! They were declared amazing and a blog HAD to be created (I feel like I should mention that the night at Finnegan’s was prolly like six weeks ago! LOL!)

And thus, the Fish-Chips-Salsa blog was born at 6:35pm on October 27, 2009! Our name you ask? Well it was a process to get there. We dubbed the blog Chips…as an Ode to the feline in residence, Buttercup! And it was actually the first word that popped into my head when asked what should our name be.

And our names? Well that all began when Nicole decided she wanted a gangsta name! LOL! So she googled, “Nicole gangster name generator!” The results were as follows!

Gangster Name Generator yielded these results:
Nicole Brandt=Pants….”WTF? I don’t wanna be pants….that’s lame!”
Jessica Hugg=Frankenberry…..”Yours is SO cool!”
Nicole=The Mangler…”Ooh scary!”
Roxie=Cock……LOL!!
Rochelle=Two Fists…..No comment needed here!

Ferry Name Generator yielded:
Nicole=Honeysuckle Little Nightingale

Pirate Name Generator yielded:
Roxie=Smilin’ Evelen Scab

Man Name Generator yielded:
Nicole=Joe?! WTF?!

Fluffy Kitten Name Generator yielded:
Girl Kitty, Nicole=Nightmare Periwinkle

After much laughter about the possibilities I suggest Fish-Chips-Salsa! AKA: Fish & Chips, Chips & Salsa! Kinda like the before and after thing on Wheel of Fortune!

Stay tuned for Word of the Week and more!
A new blog is like a clean slate. This blog first began while eating fabulous hashbrowns when I thought that I should blog about the best places I've been to eat. So its fitting that when we finally got around to creating the blog it be called Chips, regardless of the fact that this is a nickname for the cat (and yes cats can have nicknames too, you'd want a nickname too if you were a cat name Princess Buttercup, it can be quite a mouthful to explain).

Then the next step is coming up with a good blogging name. Name generators seemed to not help creating silly names like 'Pants', 'Smilin Evalyn Scabbs', 'nightmare periwinkle' and 'two fists'. None of those seemed to fit me well enough. So my counterpart decided to make our name based on food. Fish and Chips are yummy and Chips and Salsa are quite delicious. Therefore fish-chips-salsa was created. So fry up some fish, get some fresh salsa, and of course a bag of chips and enjoy a nice meal.
